Johnston County Event Calendar
Join the Max G. Creech Selma Historical Museum as it celebrates the African American holiday of “Juneteenth”. The program will explore the history of the holiday beginning in Texas in 1865 when Union Army forces freed the enslaved persons in Galveston, Texas. The Event will then discuss how the holiday spread and grew and then declined. The program will also explore the revival of the holiday in the early 21st century. This event is free and open to the public/. The event will be held Saturday, June 23rd at the museum which is located at 104 West Anderson Street, in historic “Uptown” Selma, NC. Kosmic Kittens Cat Lounge
Bringing arts and community to Selma! Join us for amateur open mic night at the lounge every 4th Friday. We don’t serve food, but we have drinks and snacks available for purchase and free coffee. We also offer a complimentary craft beer or glass of wine with our Cat Lounge Package. You can eat before at Danoni’s or Hula Girl next door, or order take out/delivery and eat in. Come practice your skills, test out new or old material, or just wing it and have a GREAT time at the new open mic night 2018!!!

Selma Antique Wine Train
Saturday, November 10
After arriving at Selma’s Historic Union Depot, participants will be transported to Uptown Selma for Lunch and Antique shopping along Raiford, Railroad and Anderson streets. Board the party bus for Hinnant Family Vineyards in Pine Level for a tour of the facility and tasting.
Return back to Historic Union Depot in Selma.

IN CONCERT: Award winning country artist and Johnston County native Donnie Lee Strickland comes home to perform LIVE@theRudy in Selma, NC. With very special guest Ricky Cook (Nashville recording artist). Donnie was a cast member of the American Music Jubilee variety show in Selma for fourteen years, before headlining two of his own shows at Branson Center Stage in Branson, MO during the 2015 season. His song “Cowboy Rock and Roll” can be heard on 94.7 WQDR’s Homegrown Country Show, and his last album produced the single “My Kind of Woman”, which won Top Song of the Year at the 2017 WOBA awards in Nashville, TN.
Imperator Records artist Ricky Cook’s first single “Thanks A Lot Loretta” found success in 2018 on the Music Row charts in Nashville, and his recent single “It’s All In the Kiss” is currently moving up the charts.
Enjoy a great evening of country music at the historic Rudy Theater in Selma, NC.
