GOLDSBORO, NC – The Tuscarora Council of the Boy Scouts of America will celebrate their 95th anniversary with an evening of dinner, special recognitions and a silent auction. The public is invited to the special night to be held at Goldsboro Builders Supply, 701 Patetown Road in Goldsboro, on February 22. February 22 is significant as it is World Day of Scouting. The Tuscarora Council serves more than 8,000 youth and adult volunteers in Duplin, Johnston, Sampson and Wayne counties.

The catered dinner will be followed by a special recognition of local civic leaders and Scout supporters Al Aycock and Dr. Hervy Kornegay. The silent auction will include a broad selection of collectibles for the guys, the ladies, and youngsters, including a vacation in Cancun; sports memorabilia from major and college teams including a collectible signed by Tyler Hansbrough and more; NASCAR memorabilia including an item from the late Dale Earnhardt, Senior; rare scout patches, and many one-of-a-kind items.

The Tuscarora Council and Scouting has grown significantly since its founding days in 1923. Today, the Tuscarora Council serves more than 7,000 youth and adult volunteers in Duplin, Johnston, Sampson and Wayne counties of eastern North Carolina. The Tuscarora Council offers a variety of youth development programs. They include traditional Scouting programs such as Cub Scouts (boys in first through fifth grade) and Boy Scouts (young men ages 11-17). We also offer Venturing, a co-ed adventure-based program for young men and women ages 14-20.

Learning for Life and Exploring are community-based programs. Learning for Life is a character-education program offered in several local schools. Exploring is a career-education program for young men and women ages 14-20. In addition to these programs, the Council also has an Order of the Arrow (OA) lodge, which is a camping and community-service based honor society.

Doors open for the 95th anniversary celebration Thursday, February 22, at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $40 per couple or $25 each.
