Join the Max G. Creech Selma Historical Museum as it celebrates the African American holiday of “Juneteenth”. The program will explore the history of the holiday beginning in Texas in 1865 when Union Army forces freed the enslaved persons in Galveston, Texas. The Event will then discuss how the holiday spread and grew and then declined. The program will also explore the revival of the holiday in the early 21st century. This event is free and open to the public/. The event will be held Saturday, June 23rd at the museum which is located at 104 West Anderson Street, in historic “Uptown” Selma, NC.
